3 What's New

Dashboard: MS Word docx support

We have introduced full support for docx formatted files in MS Word 2007. This means you can now add .docx formatted files to a doc set and these will be fully analyzed.

Add-in: Support for automatic detection of proxy servers when connecting from Add-in

The add-in has been enhanced to automatically detect if your network is configured to use a proxy server for authentication. This is generally set in corporate environments by your network administrator. The add-in picks up these settings from the underlying operating system settings.

In the case where security credentials (user id and password) are also required the Add-in will present a new dialog box that prompts for these credentials.

Add-in: Test Connection

A new button on the Add-in toolbar allows you to test your connection to the VisibleThread server.

This will test the connection from the add-in to the VisibleThread server. If you have been disconnected or are in offline mode, clicking this button will help validate what is happening and you will be presented with a screen outlining the reason for why the connection is failing

Note: Proxy Details changed. In the cases where a network configuration adjustment has occurred for instance if the proxy has changed, then you will be disconnected and placed in offline mode. Clicking this button allows any new settings to be picked up by the add-in and will allow you reconnect.

Add-in: Usability – Show/Hide behaviour

If the add-in is hidden, no attempt is made to contact the server or do any network related work. Prior to this even when the add-in was hidden connections to the VisibleThread server would be attempted.

Additionally, there is a clearer visual indication of activities using a progress bar displayed as you move from hidden to shown state.

4 Bugs Fixed

The following bugs have been fixed for this release:

Dashboard

374	Dashboard	Disallow 2 Best Practice associations to be made in dialog box. Previously the Dialog Box allowed associating both a Structural and a Quality Best Practice at the same time, causing the 2^nd association not to succeed.
375	Dashboard	Removing last document causes server exception during Stats update.
388	Dashboard	Delete and Duplicate of structure BP not correct. In the case where a Best Practice was created, subsequently deleted and a new Best Practice of the same name subsequently created the new Best Practice acquired the structure of the deleted Best Practice.
407	Dashboard	Delete BP does not update change history correctly.

Add-in (for Word 2003 and Word 2007 unless otherwise stated)

377	Add-in	Getting thrown offline missing 'DocSet_NAME.xml'. This occurred in the add-in under certain circumstances when local copies were out of synch with the server.
404	Add-in	Add-ins should go offline silently when poller brings them offline. When the add-in went into ‘offline’ mode it was presenting a new dialog box showing this each time it checked. This caused users to have to dismiss a large number of dialog boxes
405	Add-in	Closing document caused exception under certain circumstances
409	Add-in	Delete non versioned folders from 'My VisibleThread' on startup. In certain situations, folders for doc sets remained locally present when these doc sets had already been deleted on the dashboard. This caused the add-in to fail and present the user with an error message
410	Add-in	Launching doc from dashboard should check if proxy details needed. When using a proxy server and launching the document from the dashoard, these proxy settings were not being picked up.
