When I joined VisibleThread six years ago as COO, I did so with a specific vision – to help this business scale. At the time, we already had a world-class product, but as any leader knows, a great product is only one-third of the equation. To build a truly enduring company, you must align three critical pillars: People, Process and Product.
Today, as I reflect on my transition from COO to CEO, I am incredibly proud of how those pillars have solidified. We aren’t just a software company, we are a global team of specialists dedicated to being the No. 1 RFP Intelligence Platform in the world. From our headquarters in Dublin to our offices in the US, UK and Australia, our identity is defined by the resilience of our people and a culture that values output over hierarchy.
Our Identity: More Than just a “Job”
Getting to where we are today was not a linear path. Five or six years ago, like many scaling startups, we were asking our sales talent to be “jacks of all trades”, evangelizing the product, acting as marketers, and handling customer success all at once. We made mistakes, and we learned from them.
We realized that to truly “hum”, we needed a robust structure. We built out exceptional, specialized teams in Product, Customer Success, Marketing, Operations and Support.
Only when that foundation was in place did we truly understand the specific type of sales talent required to take us to the next level.
Today, VisibleThread is not a hierarchical organization. Whether you are an intern or a director, we are all on the same mission: to support our customers and build products that solve real-world business challenges.
A Culture of Growth and Accountability
We don’t just hire for a specific role, we hire for a skillset and a mindset. We look for resilience, desire, and belief. Because we invest so heavily in nurturing our talent, we’ve seen incredible internal transformations:
- SDRs becoming Sales Directors and Account Executives.

This philosophy of “right person, right seat” starts at the very top. Last year, our founder, Fergal McGovern, made the decision to transition to CPO (Chief Product Officer) from CEO. Fergal is a product led founder, and his true passion has always been building products that solve the complex challenges our customers face. By stepping into the CPO role, he returned to his roots.
For me, stepping into the CEO role was a natural, easy decision. I knew the strength of our leadership team and the depth of talent throughout the business. We operate on a culture of high performance and accountability, but we balance that with a fierce commitment to work-life harmony.

We are a dedicated and hardworking team, but we are also a hybrid team. We believe that to do your best work, you need to be able to show up for your life outside of the office. At VisibleThread, “culture” means being there for the school plays, the gym sessions, the parent-teacher meetings, or simply walking the dog. That balance is non-negotiable for us.
Product Excellence: 15 Years of Thoughtful Innovation
In a world often distracted by “the latest fad”, VisibleThread stands apart. We have been delivering high-quality products to the government contracting space for over 15 years. We don’t copy, we build with intent.
Our Product and Engineering teams have evolved massively over the last 18 months. With an average tenure of five years in engineering, and ten new hires in the last year alone, we have a unique blend of deep institutional knowledge and fresh perspectives.
We build secure, robust, and high-quality software. We use the right technology for the right challenge, ensuring our AI is used for the specific “jobs to be done” rather than as a buzzword. We stay grounded by hosting workshops, feedback sessions, and early adopter programs with our customers and industry experts. This ensures our roadmap is a direct response to our customers’ needs.

I am consistently inspired by our Sales and Customer Success teams. With an average tenure of 3.5 years, these teams aren’t just looking for a “close”. They are looking for a solution.
