DUNS (Legacy)

Legacy Dun & Bradstreet identifier historically used for federal procurement; replaced by UEI.
Published

The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) was the longstanding unique identifier for organizations in federal procurement.
As of 2022, DUNS has been replaced by the government-issued UEI managed in SAM.gov. While many historical records and past
performance references still include DUNS numbers, new awards and registrations require the UEI. Companies should ensure that
legacy references map correctly to current UEI records to avoid confusion in responsibility checks and past performance lookups.
