Addendum (Commercial)

Buyer-issued changes or clarifications commonly used in commercial solicitations and construction.
Published

In commercial and construction procurements, an addendum is an issued change or clarification to the solicitation documents.
Functionally similar to a federal amendment, it provides updates to drawings, specifications, schedules, and instructions. Bidders
must acknowledge and incorporate addenda into their proposals or bids. Failure to do so can render a submission nonresponsive.
Addenda often answer bidder questions, fix inconsistencies, or reflect site visit outcomes. Teams should track addenda carefully,
re-run requirement shredding, and update estimates and schedules as necessary. In hybrid public-private projects, both federal
“amendments” and commercial “addenda” concepts may appear; maintaining a unified change log reduces confusion.
