Sources Sought Notice

Agency notice to assess vendor interest, capabilities, and set-aside suitability before an RFP.
Published

A Sources Sought Notice is used to gauge market interest and capability, including small business participation, before drafting
a solicitation. Agencies may use responses to determine set-aside strategies (e.g., 8(a), WOSB, SDVOSB) and to validate that
adequate competition exists. Respondents typically submit capability statements aligned to the described scope, along with NAICS,
size status, and relevant past performance. While not a guarantee of a future solicitation, Sources Sought responses can influence
acquisition approach, contract type, and teaming. Vendors use these notices to position early, highlight strengths, and identify
potential partners.
