The Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is the official government-wide identifier for entities doing business with the federal
government, replacing DUNS. Issued through SAM.gov, the UEI is used across award and procurement systems for consistent tracking
and validation. Transitioning to UEI reduces reliance on third-party numbering and centralizes updates within SAM. Contractors
must ensure their UEI is active and associated with accurate business information, as discrepancies can delay awards or payments.
