(U.S. Department of Defense contracting) A statutory domestic sourcing requirement that generally requires the Department of Defense (DoD) to procure certain items—including textiles and clothing, food, hand or measuring tools, and certain specialty metals—that are wholly grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States, subject to specified statutory exceptions. The Berry Amendment is generally more restrictive than the Buy American Act (BAA) and applies specifically to DoD procurements.
