Context Window

The maximum amount of information an AI model can consider at once, including prompts, documents, and prior output.

The maximum amount of information an AI model can process and consider at one time when generating a response. The context window includes prompts, uploaded documents, conversation history, and the model’s own generated text. In bid and proposal management, if an RFP, supporting attachments, past performance references, and other source material exceed the model’s context window, earlier or less relevant information may no longer be considered, which can reduce accuracy, consistency, or compliance. Understanding context window limitations helps proposal teams structure inputs effectively, work with large procurement documents, and achieve more reliable AI-generated outputs.
