A former U.S. Department of Defense organisation responsible for managing and distributing logistics information, including item identification, supply cataloguing, logistics data standards, and technical data used throughout the federal supply system. DLIS supported the standardisation of military logistics by maintaining information such as National Stock Numbers (NSNs), Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes, and other logistics reference data. Its functions are now performed by DLA Logistics Information Services, part of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Contractors involved in defence supply chains may still encounter the term in legacy contracts, documentation, and training materials.
