Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA)

A 1994 US law that modernised and simplified federal procurement, encouraging commercial buying and electronic contracting.

The Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act of 1994 (FASA) is a U.S. federal law that modernized and simplified the federal procurement process. It introduced reforms designed to reduce administrative burden, encourage the acquisition of commercial products and services, expand the use of simplified acquisition procedures, and increase efficiency in government contracting. FASA also promoted the adoption of electronic commerce and electronic contracting, helping transition federal procurement from paper-based processes to digital systems. Many of its provisions were later incorporated into the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and continue to shape modern federal acquisition practices.
