A contract type used by the U.S. federal government to acquire supplies or services when the exact timing, quantity, or frequency of future requirements cannot be determined at the time of award. An Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract establishes a minimum guaranteed quantity or value that the government agrees to order and a maximum contract ceiling that limits the total value or quantity available over the contract’s ordering period. Individual requirements are fulfilled through task orders (for services) or delivery orders (for supplies), providing flexibility while avoiding the need to award a new contract for each purchase.
