(U.S. Government contracting) A programme administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and, in some cases, individual federal agencies, that pairs an established contractor (mentor) with an eligible small business (protégé) to provide business development, technical, managerial, and financial assistance. Participation may enable the mentor and protégé to form an approved joint venture eligible to compete for certain small business set-aside contracts.
