Request for Equitable Adjustment (REA)

A contractor's written request to adjust contract price, schedule, or terms following a change, delay, or other qualifying event, negotiated before a formal claim.

(U.S. Government contracting) A contractor’s written request for an adjustment to the contract price, schedule, or other terms resulting from a Government-directed change, differing site condition, delay, or other event entitling the contractor to relief under the contract. An REA is ordinarily submitted and negotiated administratively in an effort to resolve the matter without filing a formal claim under the Contract Disputes Act (CDA).
