Risk Management Plan (RMP)

A living document defining how project risks will be identified, assessed, owned, mitigated, and monitored throughout the contract.

A document that defines how project or program risks will be identified, assessed, prioritized, monitored, and managed throughout the contract or project life cycle. A Risk Management Plan (RMP) typically identifies risks affecting cost, schedule, technical performance, security, or mission success; evaluates each risk’s likelihood and potential impact; assigns ownership; and documents mitigation, monitoring, and contingency actions. As a living document, the RMP is updated as new risks emerge or existing risks change, providing a structured approach to reducing uncertainty and supporting informed management decisions.
