Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP)

Streamlined FAR Part 13 procedures for acquiring supplies and services at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold with less administration.

Procurement procedures established in FAR Part 13 that enable federal agencies to acquire supplies and services using streamlined solicitation, evaluation, award, and documentation processes. Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) are generally used for acquisitions at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) and are intended to reduce administrative costs, promote efficiency, and increase opportunities for small businesses while maintaining competition to the maximum extent practicable. Special authorities also permit the use of simplified procedures for certain higher-value acquisitions of commercial products and commercial services under specified conditions.
