A small business that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens, with one or more women managing the company’s day-to-day operations and making its long-term business decisions. Under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract Program, certified WOSBs may compete for contracts that are set aside in industries where women-owned businesses are underrepresented or substantially underrepresented. The program is intended to expand contracting opportunities and promote greater participation by women-owned businesses in the federal marketplace.
